Microneedling can be performed directly in your dermatologist’s office. Before your treatment, the physician may recommend an over-the-counter pain reliever or use an anesthetic cream to make your experience more enjoyable.
During the treatment, the physician uses a device like a pen covered with very fine and very short needles. He or she will transmit the instrument to your face and pay close attention to the areas of interest.
Each treatment can take about 30 to 60 minutes. In general, it is recommended to have a course of treatment, with each session for several weeks to obtain the best results. After the session, redness or swelling may appear in the treated area. It usually takes a day or two for it to subside, but it can take up to a week, depending on the aggressiveness of the treatment and the sensitivity of your skin.
